Greatest Professional Challenges and Achievements

Curing prostate cancer through minimaly invasive surgery whilst ensuring that patients maintain quality of life. In this regard he has been involved in bringing robotic surgery to South Africa with the first robot arriving in South Africa in September 2013

“I am acutely aware that prostate cancer often affects two or more people, and that the side effects of treatment impact not only on the patient but also on a couple’s and families quality of life” as it often affects men in their prime.

The Prostate Cancer Foundation and raising awareness about this devastating, potentially curable disease is a passion.

 

Interests and Hobbies

Lance played provincial cricket and hockey and now enjoys golf and squash.

He recently completed his pilot’s licence and believes that there are many similarities between flying and surgery. "Both require a commitment to perfection with a zero margin for error."

Lance is a keen although intermittent fly fisherman.
